Visitors had the opportunity to listen to exciting lectures and learn about most interesting fields of application from the digital workplace.

Here, you may watch a video contribution by the Rhine-Neckar television broadcaster "Rhein-Neckar-Fernsehens (RNF)".

Digital workplace as a means of participating in Industry 4.0

Rolf Lutzer, Head of Project Management at Fasihi GmbH, showed in his lecture how IT platforms with digital workplaces could pave the way for the Industry 4.0 era. In the future, more than ever, human workers would need platforms for supporting them in their work. As you could not wait for the next generation of employees to emerge, a high degree of usability was already required today in order to make this support available to production workers right now. "Despite all automation, human workers will be irreplaceable even in the future. Regarding changes in their workplaces, human workers need target-oriented education and training. This means that lifelong learning on the job will be indispensable - requiring all the more target-oriented concepts," Lutzer says. Management in companies had the task to cautiously introduce employees to this process of change.

According to Lutzer, industrial enterprises kept on top of organising staff instruction, planning shift work and handling dangerous substances by using WEB inFACTORY. The digital workplace  "myEHS" facilitated the first step towards Industry 4.0. Visitors could explicitly inform themselves about this Fasihi Software in conversation with our staff.

Research project with Fraunhofer Institute (IFF)

Großes Interesse fand das Forschungsprojekt für Assistenzsysteme. Zur Demonstration hatte das Fraunhofer Institut eine Anlage aufgebaut. Dr.-Ing. Simon Adler from the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation, Fraunhofer-Institut für Fabrikbetrieb und -Automatisierung (IFF), presented the joint project about Industry 4.0 with Fasihi GmbH and further partners for developing an assistance system for the process industry. The project is promoted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and Fasihi takes on the content-related role as a partner for education and research. Special attention was paid to a plant model set up in the lounge of the Pfalzbau where visitors could see the progress of the project in a live demonstration.

Software for geographic information systems

Dr. Scott Olech, Project Manager at Fasihi GmbH, presented a software for geographic information systems (GIS) for optimising field services and maintenance work of their American partner company Spatial Wave. By using this software, position-based data and work orders are gathered, processed, organised, visualised and analysed on digital maps. Olech explained the operating principle with the aid of SANSTAR - a software package by Spatial Wave from various cloud solutions by which the entire bulky waste removal of the American megapolis of Los Angeles is organised. Every day, Los Angeles's city cleaning answers 4,000 requests by making use of this sophisticated solution and coordinates the operation of more than 200 garbage trucks.

Our company provides GIS-Solutions in cooperation with Spatial Wave.

Digitalisation even in marketing and sales

Dr. Klaus Heinzelbecker from the Institute of Sales and Marketing Automation, Institut für Sales und Marketing Automation , elucidated to the visitors that the topic of Industry 4.0 and digitalisation not only had become a topic of growing importance in production but also in marketing and sales. Many companies, however, did not yet dispose of a comprehensive digitalisation strategy including the fields of marketing and sales. Existing CRM systems were indeed widespread, however, in many cases their current state did not correspond to the requirements of a digital economy. "Marketing and sales automation are central elements for tapping the potential of Industry 4.0. Therefore, they should not be lacking in any comprehensive digitalisation strategy," Heinzelbecker comments.

Waste management as research project

Dr.-Ing. Shahrokh Peykarjou, basic researcher at Fasihi GmbH, reported on the waste management of our company. „Zero Waste“ no longer was a theoretical concept but firmly stood on the agenda of many enterprises. A successful implementation of that strategy would only be possible if accrual and disposal of the entire waste were meticulously documented and analysed. Peykarjou reported on his current research project targeting a reliable system constantly monitoring in which plants waste accrued and how it could be reduced. Moreover, he examines an integrated energy management in form of an integrated software solution for reducing energy consumption, optimising energy use and controlling carbon dioxide emissions in companies.

Live demonstraton with data glasses

Visitors were extremely interested in a live demonstration carried out by our mobile app developers. Here, they could already take a look at the digital workplace of the future. Using the example of data glasses, our developers demonstrated how a fictive production worker was operating a machine by making use of both his hands at the same time. The data required by him will be directly transferred onto the glasses through our new app.

Please take a look at the work from a user's view when using the data glasses:
